The Story
On December 31, 1989, Arizona played NC State in the inaugural Copper Bowl. Hosted in Tucson on Arizona’s field, the Wildcats held off the Wolfpack in the second half, winning 17-10. We incorporated some of the seafoam green used in early Copper Bowl branding to throw it back to the origins of the bowl game and celebrate its first champion.
