Speedy the Geoduck is a large, anthropomorphic burrowing clam, and the official costumed mascot of The Evergreen State College. They were first introduced to students and faculty as the college was taking shape in the late 1960s, and they “graduated” from the school in 1979 (the year the geoduck was officially adopted as the college’s mascot). Speedy proudly represents students who dig deeper, and aren’t afraid to “let it all hang out.”
