At a 1930 Midnight Yell Practice preparing for their old rival TCU, Pinky Downs asked the crowd, “What are we going to do to those Horned Frogs?” He quickly answered his own question, “Gig ‘em, Aggies!” while making the now-famous hand gesture. The frog hunting term and hand sign soon became popular among Aggies and is now used as a signoff in emails, cards, and letters from Texas A&M former students. “Thanks, and Gig ‘em!”
