Little known fact: The Harvard Crimson were almost known as the Harvard Magenta. It all dates back to 1875 at a regatta race between Harvard and the Union College of Schenectady. Both schools claimed magenta as their color, and the clash ultimately led to a meeting at Holden Chapel where crimson was chosen as the school's new official color.
