Before a football game against Centre College in 1891, the University of Kentucky student body chose blue and light yellow as their school colors. When a student asked what specific shade of blue they should wear in the stands, football player Richard C. Stoll pulled off his royal blue necktie and held it up for everyone to see. A year later, UK swapped out light yellow for white, and the ‘Cats have gone Wild for Big Blue ever since.
