It’s hard to personify a wave, but Pepperdine has always found creative ways to best represent its athletic mascot. After iterations of Willie the Wave came and went like the tides, the university debuted King Neptune in 1996. The costumed mascot’s reign as ruler of the Waves only lasted seven years; the school went mascot-less from 2003 to 2006 before reintroducing Willie.
