The Story

This Rice Owls logo is consistent with many of the other "sailor hat" mascots of the 1950s. Rice chose its athletic mascot based on its university seal, which features Athenian owls representing wisdom and knowledge. We added a block "R" and a classic, arched "Rice" to this design, for a complete, collegiate look.
