Sailgating is a tradition nearly as old as Husky Stadium itself. Soon after Husky Stadium opened in 1920, Washington fans had the bright idea to head to Husky Harbor to support the UW football team by boat; UW's student rowers would even go so far as to shuttle fans to and from the harbor. As the tradition evolved, Huskies fans use charter boats and fancier personal vessels to sailgate, but the ethos of sailgating endures.
